Treat Severe Wrinkles and Facial Folds With Juvederm

Published on October 11, 2014

With the emphasis placed on youth in modern society, people can feel extremely self-conscious when they start to show the signs of age. This is particularly true in mainstream capitals like New York City, where the standards seem to be higher than anywhere else.

If you are self-conscious about severe wrinkles or folds on your face, you may want to consider Juvederm. Essentially, this is a facial filler that is meant to fill out these wrinkles and folds, so that you no longer have to feel insecure about them.

Getting to know the injectable gel known as Juvederm XC

Juvederm XC is an injectable gel that is inserted into the areas of your face where there are moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. The procedure will add temporary volume to your skin, removing the indentations caused by these signs of aging. Juvederm Voluma XC is an injectable gel of a slightly different formula that is meant for deep injection in the region of the cheek; it is meant to be used in adults over the age of 21.

The minimal side effects of Juvederm

The side effects of Juvederm tend to not be as extreme as those of more traditional skin filler procedures. There is a chance of infection, although you can minimize this with proper care. With Juvederm XC, the majority of side effects are mild to moderate, and they last less than a week. With Juvederm Voluma XC, side effects are a little bit more severe (moderate) and typically lasts between two and four weeks. Typically, side effects for both variations include temporary injection site reactions.

Am I good candidate for Juvederm treatments performed in NYC?

Even though this procedure comes with many benefits, there are many people who should not use it. You should avoid this product and procedure if you have a history of severe allergic reactions, such as anaphylaxis. Also, if you happen to be allergic to gram-positive bacterial proteins, the injectable gel will not agree with you. Other than this, however, if you are looking to obtain a more youthful appearance, this may be a great option for your situation. Talk to your New York City dermatologist to see if it is a good fit for you.
