Dermal Fillers

Conveniently located to serve Westchester and Scarsdale

There are numerous types of lines and wrinkles that form on the face. Some of these age lines are very shallow and are created by overactive facial muscles. Other types of wrinkles are deeper, and some can be very harsh. These deeper wrinkles form as a result of the skin’s gradual decline in hyaluronic acid and collagen protein.

To deal with moderate and harsh facial wrinkles and folds, many patients come in for filler treatments. Fillers are injectable products that restore facial volume beneath wrinkles to resolve them, resulting in smooth and youthful-looking skin.

The Types of Fillers That We Offer

We have been trained in the proper injection of multiple popular injectable products. Every filler is different and serves a different purpose. The choice of filler depends on a number of factors, including the exact area of treatment and the type of results desired.

Juvederm: This filler product is a smooth gel composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the body. By supplementing the tissues’ dwindling supply of hyaluronic acid, Juvederm restores moisture and volume to the skin. This diminishes the appearance of wrinkles and can also add volume to the lips. JUVEDERM XC HAS BEEN PROVEN TO LAST UP TO 12 MONTHS AND JUVEDERM VOLUMA HAS BEEN PROVEN TO LAST UP TO 24 MONTHS. If a patient is unhappy with the results of these fillers, they can be reversed using hyaluronidase to dissolve the hyaluronic acid.

Restylane: This filler is very similar to Juvederm in terms of its makeup (hyaluronic acid) and uses (wrinkle filling and volume enhancement). Its effects have been seen to last up to 12-24 months AS WELL. The main difference between Restylane and Juvederm lies in its consistency.

Radiesse: Due to its composition, Radiesse is very different from all the other fillers on the market. It is made of an aqueous gel solution containing calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres. CaHA is a material the tissues use to help create more collagen protein, improving the health of the skin. The microspheres create structure, and as they are absorbed, the new collagen takes their place. Its results can last for a year or longer.

Am I a Good Candidate for Filler Treatments?

The best candidates for filler treatments are individuals who want a non-surgical option to improve moderate and harsh lines and wrinkles. Fillers are also great for enhancing the volume of sunken cheeks or thin lips. The treatments can also benefit those who are looking to define their jawline or address hollow temples. A healthy lifestyle and commitment to good skincare can make filler treatments last longer. Use the recommended skincare products to maintain glowing skin.

How to Prepare for Filler Treatments

Before your filler treatment, you will need to avoid medications like aspirin, other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), and certain herbal supplements to prevent excessive swelling or bruising. Avoiding alcohol is also recommended. Schedule any strenuous activities 48 hours after your filler treatment appointment, along with hot showers, saunas, hot tubs, or any other activity that can cause excessive sweating. This will allow enough time for the filler to settle in and become more effective. Two days before your filler treatment, avoid applying anti-aging products to your face. Refrain from bleaching, waxing, and any other hair-removal treatment.

Coming In for Filler Treatments

Filler treatments are typically quick and convenient. They begin with marking of the areas that are targeted for treatment in order to create a guide for the procedure. These areas will also need to be numbed. In many cases, a local anesthetic may be part of the formulation of the filler, so it will not need to be injected beforehand. In other cases, administration of topical anesthetic will need to occur before the filler injections.

Once the treatment areas are prepared, the medical professional will carefully inject small amounts of filler. The process usually does not take longer than an hour to complete and often takes even less time.

Afterwards, the patient will be free to go home or return to work, since there will not be a long period of healing or downtime following the injections. This makes filler treatments much more convenient and comfortable than surgical procedures.
