Why Choose the Juvederm Dermal Filler?

Published on February 4, 2015

If you’re considering dermal filler injections then Juvederm should be one of the first you discuss. Juvederm is an injectable facial filler made up of hyaluronic acid, which is a substance that is naturally found in the body. Facial fillers like Juvederm are often referred to as “liquid facelifts”. They can give a person phenomenal results without going under the knife.

Have you lost facial volume? Our NYC dermatologists can help!

Juvederm helps smooth out facial folds and wrinkles by adding volume to the skin. The filler also integrates into the dermal tissue, and it then binds and attracts water molecules. This helps maintain the volume.

What to Expect During Your Juvederm Treatment

A fine needle will be used to inject Juvederm into the skin. The cosmetic dermatologist will then massage the area in order to spread the dermal filler. It typically takes 15 to 30 minutes to complete this treatment. However, the amount of Juvederm that is injected into the skin will determine how long it takes to complete this procedure.

Juvederm Recovery Procedures in Manhattan

You can leave the dermatologist’s office as soon as your treatment is over. You can also return to your normal activities. You may have some swelling, redness and bruising in the area, but those symptoms will most likely go away within a few days. A cold compress can help reduce the swelling. You should not wear makeup for 12 hours after your procedure.

You will be able to see the initial results immediately after your treatment. However, the full results will not be noticed until after the swelling and bruising has subsided. It is important to note that the results of Juvederm are not permanent. They typically last six to 12 months. Repeat Juvederm treatments will be needed in order to maintain the results.
