What’s The Difference Between Juvederm and Restylane

Published on September 23, 2011

Manhattan Dermatology & Laser Center offers Juvederm and Restylane, dermal filler treatments, composed of a naturally occurring sugar called hyaluronic acid. There are a few differences between them.

One of the differences between these two dermal fillers is that the consistency of Juvederm is more like a soft gel, in comparison to Restylane which is firmer.

Other differences between Juvederm and Restylane

A patient may also experience slightly less puffiness and swelling after undergoing Juvederm injections. Significant swelling may be experienced, especially in the lip area, upon receiving Restylane injections. Differences also exist in the amount of time a person can expect their results to last following these treatments. The results achieved from Juvederm and Restylane will each last between four to six months, however, if a person decides on an alternative form of Juvederm called Juvederm Ultra Plus, their results will last between six to nine months.

Why a patient might want to use Juvederm Ulta Plus for their skincare needs

Additionally, if a person would like to have a fuller look to their face or cheeks, or if they have deep nasolabial folds, or smile lines that occur around the mouth, Juvederm Ultra Plus is a more effective option in comparison to Restylane. Since the consistency of Juvederm Ultra Plus is thicker and considerably more dense when compared to Restylane, it is much more effective when used to reduce the appearance of deeper wrinkles and fine lines.
